Every so often I like to pick up Nicholas Sparks book and indulge myself into it. I decided to read Dear John, maybe because I had the movie read to watch, but I thought I would read the book. Since I read the book, why not review it for you guys, just without the spoilers.

An angry rebel, John dropped out of school and enlisted in the Army, not knowing what else to do with his life–until he meets the girl of his dreams, Savannah. Their mutual attraction quickly grows into the kind of love that leaves Savannah waiting for John to finish his tour of duty, and John wanting to settle down with the woman who has captured his heart.
But 9/11 changes everything. John feels it is his duty to re-enlist. And sadly, the long separation finds Savannah falling in love with someone else.
Dear John, the letter read… and with those two words, a heart was broken and two lives were changed forever. Returning home, John must come to grips with the fact that Savannah, now married, is still his true love—and face the hardest decision of his life.

Feelings While Reading:
I honestly did not like this book as much as I liked the other ones. I am a big Nicholas Sparks fan but this one didn’t do it for me. I did like Savannah a lot, since she is one of the characters that you have to love. John on the other hand, I hate him. Yes, I know that he is the person telling the whole entire story but I really didn’t like him. I really didn’t like the plot at the beginning and in the middle but the end I did like.
Rating:
I gave this book a 3 out of 5 for a few reasons. For the main reason is the fact that I can’t relate to the book at all. I don’t understand anything about the military, only what my dad has told me about. I found those parts of the book the most boring because they made no sense to me. I hated reading those sections. Secondly, all of Nicholas Sparks books are sort of predictable. You know that the books all have the same ending, even though some are different. I really didn’t enjoy this one.
