I’m Doing My First Read-a-thon: Make Me Read It Read-a-thon

Calm down everyone! Yes, the title is correct. I have never done a read-a-thon before now, well I’m planning on it. I was reading some post the other day and I saw this very interesting read-a-thon I thought I might be into. I loved the idea behind it and I told myself, why not try it. I’m going to attempt the Make Me Read It Read-a-thon, even though that week is going to be crazy.

This amazing Read-a-thon will be going on its 3rd year so I have no idea how I never heard about this! It is being hosted by Val @ theinnocentsmiley and Ely @ teaandtitles so make sure you check them out for more information.

What Is This Read-a-thon About?

Look at the books you own, either physical, e-book or ones you’ve borrowed from the library and pick out a few you really want to read, or feel like you should read. It’s up to you how many you pick, personally I’d pick a few more than you expect to be able to read in a week. Example: if you think you’ll only read two, pick out five books or if you think you can read seven, pick out ten.

Make a list of these books on your blog, or make a video, or a Goodreads shelf or post a picture on Instagram—whatever is easiest for you. Then get friends, other bloggers/booktubers/bookstagrammers etc. to vote on which books you HAVE to read.

When the readathon comes along, you read the books in the order of most votes. For example, if one book gets 10 votes—you read that first, then the one that got 7 and so on. If there’s a tie, then it’s your preference. The goal is to read as many as possible.

When Is It?

This year the read-a-thon will be from August 6th to the 13th. It starts at 12am in your time zone, or whenever you feel like beginning it.

Since I sort of have some other things planned that week, I am only planning on reading about 5 books that week. I’m going to leave you with a list of eight books and the top five books will be what I read. You can vote by either commenting, through Twitter (tweeting at more or DMing me) or through Goodreads. I’ll leave links for all the stuff at the end of the post. You can vote up to five times from today, the 30th through the 5th since the read-a-thon begins on the 6th.

The books you can pick are:

2312

Like I said, you can comment below what you think I should read, go through the poll above, through Goodreads or through Twitter by tweeting me or through the DMs. You can vote up to five times through the voting period. If you vote more than five times, your vote will not be counted.

Thank you guys so much for your help! I’m super excited to read the books you picked out for me and participate in this awesome read-a-thon!

Will you be doing this read-a-thon? How many read-a-thons have you done? What book are you voting for? Have you read any of these books? What did you think about them? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!

Happy Reading,
unnamed

    1. Thanks for voting. I keep hearing it is a really good read and it has been sitting on my shelf for a few months. I love Mindy Kaling so I’m excited to hopefully read it soon!

For you, I voted for The Hate U Give just because it is one that I want to read as well but haven’t. Plus, it is supposed to be really good!

  1. ONE DAY and I’LL GIVE YOU THE SUN are both amazing books, but I had to go for ONE DAY because I have such a soft spot for both the book and the movie in my heart. I hope you enjoy whatever you end up reading, and good luck on your first ever readathon! That’s exciting. 🙂

    1. Thanks for voting! I have had A Thousand Pieces of You on my shelf for like three years. I read it once and barley remember it. I’m hoping that I enjoy it as much as everyone else has!
