Last Man Standing (Season 4) | TV Show Review

One thing I don’t like about summer break is the fact that I don’t read as much. I know it sounds really weird because I read a lot and in the summer we have all this free time but so far, all I have done is sat around and watched Netflix. That’s why for the next few days you will see a bunch of TV Show Reviews. So brace yourself. Let’s cut all that nonsense and just get with the spoiler free review of Season 4 of Last Man Standing.

Season 1 | Season 2 | Season 3

Title: Last Man Standing

Created By: Jack Burditt

Network: ABC

Released: October 3, 2014 – April 17, 2015

Run Time: 21 Minutes

A man is forced to take on more responsibility with his daughters when his wife returns to work.

THE CAST:

  • Tim Allen as Michael “Mike” Baxter
  • Nancy Travis as Vanessa Baxter
  • Amanda Fuller as Kristen Baxter
  • Molly Ephraim as Amanda “Mandy” Baxter
  • Kaitlyn Dever as Eve Baxter
  • Christoph Sanders as Kyle Anderson
  • Héctor Elizondo as Edward “Ed” Alzate
  • Flynn Morrison as Boyd Baxter
  • Jordan Masterson as Ryan Vogelson
My Review:

Mike Baxter might think that his life is going as he planned it but you know how well that goes. Ryan and Kristen are planning their wedding along with taking care of their hyperactive son Boyd. Mandy is working on her clothing line and making herself a star. Eve is making herself more and more of Mike’s favorite by becoming the kicker on the high school football team. And Vanessa is just being Vanessa. Will Mike be able to take all the changes happening in his life?

I was so invested into this show when I started watching this show. I don’t know what happened but something clicked and it is starting to get a little boring. I’m beginning to feel like I have watched the material before and it isn’t as funny as it used to be. I thought for a little bit I wasn’t into the show as much because I have seen a few of the episodes but that wasn’t it. I’m not saying that it was totally horrible or I’m going to be giving up on the show but it isn’t as much fun as before.

The writing of the show isn’t really what is getting to me. It sort of is one of the reasons that I am not enjoying as much but it more is the directing and the acting on the show. I feel like the cast is a little more tired and it appeared to me the cast was slacking off a little more. When it comes to the writing, I was a little torn with it. The writers are in charge of the story line and making sure that the episodes flow and make sense, without repeating each other. I found some of the jokes humorous and I liked following some of the characters – Eve, Mike, and Kyle – but for the others, I really didn’t care for as much. The characters don’t seem to be growing and expanding as much as they were before and it isn’t something I am a fan of.

Something I did enjoy about this season was the fact that they are opening up people’s mind into different topics that other shows aren’t talking about. They are also opening up people’s minds to the topic of feminism, gender role, and real life problems. The show also does a great job demonstrating these topics through the lives of the characters. Each of the characters had to learn lessons through the show and it will not only change the character but it will also change you. Like all the other seasons, you will be able to learn something, at least one thing, through the season.

Overall, I would have to give this season a 3 out of 5 stars. I watched it, liked watching, and still want to continue on with the show but I just wasn’t blown away with it as much as I have been. If you have watched the previous seasons and you are wondering if you should continue, this will be the tie breaker – if you have enjoyed the show, you might as well give it a try. If you haven’t been impressed by the show and don’t really care what happens anymore, don’t even bother to watch it. It will be one big waste of time and energy for you.

Have you watched Last Man Standing? Who is your favorite relationship through the season? Favorite moment? Who is your favorite character from the show? Could you relate to anything in this show? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!

Happy Reading,
unnamed
