Netflix is going to be the death of me. I have not done anything else but watch Netflix recently and I have no clue what to do any more now that I have finished all the Jane the Virgin episodes available. This show is addicting and I need to find the first episode of season 3 now, but I really need to review this right now! You know how crazy Jane can get when she rights so she really wants to spill the beans with this one!

My Review:
I hate to admit it. I didn’t think that I would enjoy it as much as the first season but it beat it. I think this one has to be a 4.5 out of 5 stars. So much humor. So much love. So much mystery. So much of everything.
I feel like this season was filled with more laughter than the first one. We have Susanna Barnett, who was just hilarious because of the way she acted. Then we have all of the fantasies that Jane has while she is writing. And we also have my favorite thing through the whole season – the battle between Rafael and Michael. Of course there were a million other hilarious things like Petra’s secret twin sister, who is really truly evil, and the fact that Petra used Rafael’s sperm and place got herself pregnant with the sperm and the turkey basin. The battle between the two guys cracked me up the whole entire time. Rafael was Mateo’s birth father and he still had feeling for Jane after their break up. Michael has been in love with Jane for years and he never gave up on Jane. These two went at it for weeks. Michael and Jane would get close but something would happen with Rafael. Rafael is holding onto so many secrets that we just don’t know about yet. He even went back to his old self, with sleeping with so many other women after Jane. Michael though, everything that he did was for Jane and I can’t help but love him. They always brought up a smile on my face.
I have always been Team Michael and now it is official. There is no way that Rafael can get in the way of them, but you know that he is going to try. Jane chooses Michael out of every guy that she tried to be with – Jonathan, who was her teacher, and Dax, who fixed her laptop. For a little while, I thought that she would end up with Jonathan but there is still too much that I don’t know about him. Michael was basically an open book, and plus, he got along with all of Jane’ family, which is a plus. He even had Mateo’s vote because he was the one who Mateo called “Dada” in one episode. I just love the way that Michael proposed. Like he just randomly had a ring in his pocket at the hospital when Petra had the twins? Jane didn’t even give Michael the chance to even ask her. She just goes and jumps on the question, which really shows how much she loves him and he loves her. The wedding between them was just beautiful and I actually started to cry in the ending of that episode, and part of it was actually cased by the scene that came after Michael gave Jane the snow globe.
One thing that I hate myself for was the fact that I spoiled myself on who Sin Rostro was and what happened to Michael in the hallway. I needed to know who Sin Rostro was before everyone else. I needed to know if my new theory was correct, which was sort of correct. Who would have guessed that a sweet, southern belle detective would end up being Sin Rostro in a way. I mean Rose did take her face and turned it into a mask, which I really didn’t expect. But what Rose did to Michael in the end of the episode was terrible. I mean Rose literally shot him and Jane has no idea. She is probably more worried about the snow globe that broke. But the whole thing with the snow globe breaking and Michael getting shot was just such a great relationship and representation of Jane possibly loosing Michael that it left me in tears. But my new question is: who was the women that was killed in the hospital with the short black hair, who Luisa thought was Rose? Or was that Rose and the body was brought back to life?
Every season must bring a new baby. The first season brought Mateo. The second season brought Elsa and Anna (where Petra’s comments about the names and the movie Frozen is hilarious). Is the third season going to bring Xo another baby. The final thing that you see from her is her taking a pregnancy test, which turned out to be positive. The question is, whose is it. All I know is that I am happy that it is not Rafael’s because he has every other season!
The emotion through the whole season was beautifully constructed. Mateo was growing up and the stress between all of them was amazing shown in the plot. Alba was planning on getting her green card which I loved because she was terrified of being caught by the police after Jane goes and steals the amp from the neighbors. Mateo was taken by Rose but Michael gave up himself for Jane. Petra buying part of Jane and Michael’s house was mind blowing – but how are they going to pay the full rent/bill since Petra has been hurt? Michael feeling guilty for Nadine’s death made me want to go and cry in a circle. I just wanted to hang onto these feelings through the whole entire show.
The best relationship had to go to Michael and Jane’s dad. These two gave me life. Rogelio thought that he was Michael’s best friend and is was hilarious. The party that Rogelio threw for Michael and his friends were the best. The shirts were the best part. I hated that Rogelio had to find out the real reason why he was invited from walking in on the wrong moments but Michael makes it up to him. It also shows me that Michael has a thing for ‘Jane’s’ because the girl in the story that was told during the party was named Jane. While Rogelio was being kidnapped from that crazy fan, who I was able to identify very easily, Michael was the one that goes and saves him. These two are just amazing. If Rogelio wasn’t going out with Dina/Xo and Michael wasn’t married to Jane/or almost dead, I would put these two together.
The only thing I had problems with is the time jumps that happened in one of the episode. When I was watching the one episode with all the time jumps, I had to count all the months it jumped. I am pretty sure that I counted six of them. Six months. Why do you do that to me? All I want to do is watch the show and not worry about missing something that happened. Not once did Jane ask where Michael was. He just happens to be in Target on Black Friday while Jane and her family, along Rafael were shopping. They only got to say a few things as well any way!? That is just insane. I understand that sometimes that you have to do time jumps because of everything that is going on but why do so many of them in the same episode. That is my only problem with the whole time jump thing.
The directing, the writing, the plot, the character development, everything was amazing about the whole thing. I love the whole chessy comedy idea, depending on everything that goes on, but this show always has me laughing at least a million times an episode. All the words that flow out of the mouths of the characters were constructed amazing. One thing I love a lot was the thoughtfulness of the whole episode. I love that the backstory goes along with the episode. I really love the one where Jane finds the giraffe that Michael made fer her on their first camping trip together. My. Heart. Was. Melted. I wish that I could understand what the characters were saying while they are saying because they don’t add the captions for them. I really want to know what they are saying in them. I really want to know what is going to happen in season 3 right now!
Have you watched this show? What are your thoughts on the show? Do you like season 1 or season 2 better? What would you do if you knew someone who had a story like Jane’s? Would you be one of them who would write the story down and share it or not? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
Happy Reading,
